Food conference

FARMINGTON – The Eat Smart – Eat Local Fall Conference will focus on “Reconnecting Our Farms with Our Communities’ on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6 and 7.

On Friday there will be “Farm to School” panels and workshops on what is happening in Maine today asking: What do schools want? Where do they buy for lunch programs? What do schools need to make buying local foods work? Pitfalls and benefits of local foods in school lunch programs?

On Saturday the focus will be “Why It Matters – The Critical Connection Between Agriculture and Human Health.” Keynote speaker will be Dr. Arden B. Anderson, DO, PhD, practicing physician and a top consultant on advanced soil and crop management.
