NEW VINEYARD – An ATV accident Saturday night claimed the life of a Farmington man.
Randall Littlefield, 24, was pronounced dead at Central Maine Medical Center after the crash at 9 p.m. on Herrick Mountain Road. Littlefield was taken by a LifeFlight helicopter.
His passenger, Allison Frechette, 19, of Chesterville, was flown to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by LifeFlight with multiple injuries. Frechette was later taken to Central Maine Medical Center. The Lewiston hospital declined to comment on her condition Sunday evening.
Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland confirmed that neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
“Littlefield and Frechette were third in procession of a group of four ATVs,” McCausland said Sunday evening. “For a reason that remains unknown, Littlefield had trouble navigating a corner and crashed into some trees.”
Maine State Police Trooper Randy Keaton is investigating the accident.
