LEWISTON – Several teams remain undefeated in the Lewiston Rec Doubles Tennis League with 2 weeks remaining, as follows: Men’s A: Adam Wilding-Mike Burke, Ron Chicoine-Russ Dillingham. Men’s B: Mike Lacombe-James Kachmar, Bob Thornton-Frank Proulx. Women’s A: Jessica Roy-Alli Bleakney, Chantalle Lavertu-Julia Bergeron. Women’s B: Stephanie Gagne-Emilie Cloutier, Iwona Cwik-Linda Hebert.

Starting Sunday, August 27 there will be a Mixed Doubles League. B and C Divisions will play at 4:30, and the A Division will compete at 6:00.

A Singles League is also upcoming, as follows: August 28, Men’s C, 5:30; B, 7:00; August 29, Women’s C, 5:30; B, 7:00; August 3, Women’s A, 5:30; Men’s A, 7:00.

Registration for the leagues is taking place at the Lewiston Rec Department at Lewiston Armory, or on line. Entry fee is $40 for residents, and $50 for non-residents. Anita Murphy is the program director.

Youth players cited

LEWISTON – A total of 32 netters participated in the Lewiston Rec Summer Tennis Non-Elimination Tournament. Top 4 boys and girls received a free membership to the United States Tennis Association. They are: girls, Emilie Cloutier, Jessica Bowen, Paige LeBlond, Sara Lacroix; boys, R.J. Talalas, Jonni McDonough, Elliot Chicoine, Scott Gagne.

Players of Week: Boys: Alex Chicoine, Eric Morin, Kevin Lavertu, Michael Bouchard, Ben Wigant, Matt Bouchard, Mike Wigant. Girls: Amanda Bellefleur, Kenzi Masselli, Rebecca Lessard, Erika Thomas, Kassandra Bowen, Lauren Lessard, Laura St. Pierre, Abby Bellefleur, Sage Sylvia.

Special recognition goes to a pair of 10-year-olds who participated in the tourney, Morgan Bowen and Forrest Chicoine.

There will be a Boys and Girls Doubles Tournament on Friday, August 4. On Tuesday, August 8 there will be a Mixed Doubles Tournament for 10-under, 12-under, 15-under. Players can register at the courts.
