LISBON – Firemen from Lisbon and Lisbon Falls responded to an alarm during a heavy thunderstorm late Wednesday afternoon at the Lisbon Falls Baptist Church.

Lightning did not strike the church as first thought, according to Fire Chief P. Sean Galipeau. It instead struck a nearby tree, ran down the tree and jumped to the roof of a garage.

The only damage was a quarter-sized hole in the roof and some fiberglass insulation that was torn apart, Galipeau said.
