STRONG – Margaret F. “Maggie” Burnham, 82, of Livermore Falls, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Strong, where she had resided for the last three months.
She was born March 1, 1924, in West Gardiner, a daughter of Harold and Eska (Rogers) Durgin. She was educated in Manchester schools and on March 7, 1942, married Carl Burnham. He died Jan. 18, 1992.
For many years, she was employed at Carlton Woolen Mill, Livermore Shoe and Forster’s Manufacturing.
She was a member of the Wayside Bible Baptist Church, Livermore. For many years, she and her husband shared motorcycling as a hobby, and in her free time she enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by one son, Joseph “Joe” and his wife, Lorna, of Strong; three sisters, Barbara Moody of Morrill, Rita Maddsen of South Hampton, Mass. and Phyllis Powell of Elizabethtown, N.C.; three brothers, Waymen Durgin of Northport, Fla., Dan Durgin of Farmingdale and Donald Durgin of Lakeview, Ala.; two grandchildren, James Burnham and Ruth Hyde; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by Helen Markham, Mildred Clifford and Elwood Durgin.
