AUBURN – E.S.M hasn’t lost many games during the past few seasons in the Auburn Rec Players’ Softball League. One of the few setbacks came this week, 12-11 to Melanson-Webber Avenue at Tribou Field. Kevin Olivera walloped a 2-run homer in the top of the seventh to provide Melanson-Webber with a 12-11 lead. Matt St. Hilaire preserved the victory with a spectacular catch in left center in the bottom of the frame. Kevin Cusson also clouted a 2-run homer for the winners. John St. Hilaire was the winning pitcher with Chance Dodge taking the loss.
Lewiston Men
Lewiston – Brian Woodsome, Ray Berube and Walter Jackson all collected 3 hits as Allaire Drywall beat Delisle Construction 20-4. Tony Strout added 2 safeties. Bill Mason was the winning hurler.
Tourney is planned
BRUNSWICK – Ruby Tuesday’s/MJ’s will be hosting a benefit softball tournament on August 25-27 at the Knights of Columbus in Brunswick.
Money raised will go to the team for its costly trip to the nationals in Montgomery, Ala., during Labor Day Weekend.
It’s a double-elimination tourney, with trophies being awarded to the top 3 teams. Entry fee is $150. More information or to register call Rodney Toothaker at 798-1666, or e-mail [email protected] by August 14.
