LEWISTON – Yvonne D. Thibodeau, 97, of 33 Roger St., Lewiston, died early Sunday morning, Aug. 6, at Marshwood Health Care Facility with her family by her side, following a long illness.

She was born in Upper Frenchville on April 7, 1909, the last of 14 children of Noe and Clementine (Rossignol) Dubois. She had been a resident of this community since 1922.

She was employed as a fancy stitcher in the local shoe industry for many years until her retirement.

She married Edmond “Jack” A. Hamel on June 27, 1936, who died on Dec. 9, 1986.

She then married Ronaldo Thibodeau on Sept. 4, 1989, and he died a few years later.

She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish and St. Ann’s Sodality of Saints Peter and Paul Parish. She enjoyed knitting; and most of all, caring for her loved ones.

She is survived by one son, Donald Hamel of Lewiston; daughter-in-law, Anita Hamel of Lewiston; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one son, Roger Hamel; and by many brothers and sisters.
