PARIS – “Introduction to Computer Aided Drafting” (CAD), an introductory drafting course utilizing AutoCad on Windows-based personal computers, will be offered for the first time at Central Maine Community College’s Western Maine Center beginning Thursday, Sept. 7.

The class will be held in CMCC’s new computer lab in the South Paris Center. Using a hands-on approach, the course will offer an overview of CAD – what can be done and how to do it, including coverage of drafting fundamentals.

“Several businesses and individuals in the area asked for a CAD course here at the Western Maine Community College Center. Our commitment is to provide college courses that serve the communities’ needs. Already I’ve had many calls and there’s been brisk enrollment for this class,” said CMCC’s Barbara Livingston.

“The class will be taught by Tami Sasseville, an experienced CAD instructor, who also teaches on our Auburn campus,” Livingston said. The course is open to the public and has no prerequisites.

It is a three-credit course that will be held from 4:30 to 7:25 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 7 through Dec. 21. The cost of $325.20 includes tuition and fees. Central Maine Community College’s Western Maine Center is located at 232 Main St.
