MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. (AP) – A 17-year-old girl who was rescued by a human chain after falling 250 feet off a cliff has died from her injuries.
State police said Ashley Parker of Madison had been rescued Tuesday night from a Mount Higby hiking trail near Meriden after police got a report of someone falling from the top of a cliff.
The girl was flown to Hartford Hospital by Life Star helicopter, where she was later pronounced dead.
The hiking trail is near the State Police Training Academy, and 45 to 60 recruits had formed a human chain to rescue the girl.
