AUBURN – A pregnant woman hurt in a rollover crash on Washington Street on Wednesday remained in critical condition Thursday night at a Lewiston hospital.
Heather Fugere, 18, of Oxford, was being treated at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for multiple injuries suffered in the 12:15 p.m. wreck near Hackett Road.
Police said Fugere is pregnant, but weren’t certain how many months along she is. Hospital workers could not comment her status.
Police said Fugere lost control of her car when another vehicle cut in front of her on Washington Street. Fugere’s car struck a Central Maine Power Co. pole and then rolled several times before coming to rest on the roof at the side of the road, police said.
Minutes after the crash, police stopped a car driven by Amber Belanger, 18, of Bartlett Street in Lewiston, and arrested her on a charge of leaving the scene of the crash.
Belanger was bailed from the Androscoggin County Jail on Wednesday night.
