WEST PARIS – Evelyn Langevin, 91, of Prospect Avenue, Rumford, died Wednesday, Aug. 9.

She was born in North Troy, Vt., a daughter of Ernest and Clara (L’Heureux) Langevin.

She was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1935, and Webber Hospital School of Nursing in Biddeford, Class of 1942.

After graduating from nursing school, she worked for a few years at Boston General Hospital, and then entered the U.S. Army as a registered nurse in WWII, where she rose to the rank of 1st lieutenant.

She was one of 11 children and most of her life she lived with her sister Ernestine; together, they cared for family members.

She was a communicant of St. Athanasius & St. John Catholic Church.

She was a wonderful cook, and loved to knit and crochet, and donated many homemade items to the church fair.

She will be remembered for her big heart and always giving to those in need.

She is survived by a sister, Therese Currivan and husband, Thomas, of Bridgeport, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sisters, Ernestine and Noella Langevin; brothers, Adelard, Ulric, Aime, Bernard, Antonio, J. Paul, and Gerald Langevin.
