CANTON – Chauncey O. Patterson, 87, of 3 Grandview Circle, Mexico, passed away Aug. 7, with family by his side, at the Victorian Villa Rehabilitation Center, where he had been a resident for three months.
He was born March 4, 1919, at the family homestead in Stacyville, the son of Orlando and Mary Anne “Molly” Patterson. He was a dairy and potato farmer for many years and later a school bus driver and night watchman at Sherman Lumber Co.
He also enjoyed flying his own airplane, hunting, fishing, working in a huge garden and snowmobiling with many of his friends. In 2002, he and his wife moved to Mexico.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bette; one daughter, Janice and her husband, Timothy Gallant, of Peru; two sons, Wayne and his wife, Debra, of League City, Texas and Scott and his wife, Jean, of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothy Dillon of Danbury, Conn. and Lucille and her husband, Alvin Jordan, of South Salem, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Meghan and her husband, Robert, of Pearland, Texas, Amy Gallant of Attleboro, Mass., Erica and her husband, Andrew Whitten, of Corinna and Rachael and Daniel Patterson of San Luis Obispo, Calif.
He was predeceased by one brother, Lawrence; and three sisters, Hope, Gail and Barbara.
