LEWISTON – Wilfrid T. (Pete) Marcoux, 85, of 19 Perley St., died Monday, Aug. 14, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion, where he resided for the past three months.

He was born in Lewiston, Nov. 1, 1920, a son of Wilfrid H. and Corona Gauthier Marcoux. He was educated in Lewiston schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Pete worked as a meat cutter at Bonneau’s Market, Pelletier Cash Market and Bourque’s Market retiring in 1991.

He was a member of Holy Family Parish, a life member of American Legion Post 22 and life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 9150.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Rita Grenier of Lewiston, whom he married April 30, 1949; a special niece and caregiver, Claudette Lynch and husband, Donald and their children, Julie and Tim of Lewiston; two sisters, Stella St. Pierre of Portland and Adrienne Chabot Rojek of Illinois; a brother, Lucien Marcoux of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
