AUBURN – The Auburn Co-Rec Softball League playoffs will be held Sunday, August 20. The pairings were done by a random draw. It’s a double-elimination event.

Following is Sunday’s opening schedule:

8:30 a.m., Game 1, Androscoggin Title vs Superior Carriers, Pettengill; Game 2, Dirigo Dominators vs Superior Concrete, Lakeview-1; Game 4, Margaret Murphy Center vs Androscoggin Home Care, Tribou.

9:45, Game 3, Phoenix Funkadelics vs Wallbow’s Yard Care, Lake-1; Game 5, JC Penney vs Winner 1, Pett.; Game 6, Loser 4 vs Loser 1, Tribou.

The tourney continues all day with the championship contest slated for 6 p.m. at Pettengill.

Fall league planned

AUBURN -The Auburn Recreation Department is planning a Co-Rec Fall Softball League. Teams are sought from Lewiston-Auburn and the Lisbon area. An Organizational meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Hasty Community Center at Pettengill Park. More information can be obtained by calling Loretta Martin at the ARD at 784-0191.

Auburn Players’ League

AUBURN – S&D Sheet Metal Sharks edged Sun Journal 11-10 in playoff action Tuesday. The Papermen had rallied to take a 9-8 lead, but Brian Harvey’s 5th-inning 2-run homer erased the deficit and Jeremy Lothrup preserved the win with an outfield assist in the last inning. S&D plays E.S.M. tonight at 7:30 at Pettengill Park.

Tonight’s complete playoff slate: Meineke Muffler vs Motor Home Center, Pett., 6:00; E.S.M. vs S&D Sheet Metal, Pett., 7:30; Winner Mainland-Major Automotive vs winner Uncle Andy’s vs Reggie’s Sales & Service, Lakeview-1, 6:00.

Saturday tourney slated

AUBURN – Hart Transportation is hosting a One-Pitch Softball Tournament Saturday, August 19 at the Lakeview fields. Entry fee is $150 per team. Anyone interested can contact Jake Nason at 966-2200, or 713-1353. Proceeds will help defray expenses for Hart’s trip to the ASA National Class “D” Championships in Alabama.

There will also be a home run derby on Friday, August 18 at Pettengill Park starting at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $10. All bats will be allowed. Entrants are encouraged to provide their own pitcher.
