Auburn – Virginia Ann Spencer, 71, of Auburn, died Monday, Aug. 14, at Clover Manor after a long illness surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1934, in Skowhegan, the daughter of William and Mary Jane (Lamson) Grignon.

She resided in Augusta for many years before moving to Auburn. She worked for 20 years at Shapiro Shoe as a fancy stitcher. She also worked at the Maine Department of Motor Vehicles until her retirement. She loved to cook, collect cook books, being artistic, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and bowling. She also was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by her three daughters, Melodye Brousseau and her husband, Garry, of Auburn, Carol Berube and her husband, Don, of Lewiston and Brenda Giasson and Daniel Bender of Lewiston; two brothers, Roger Grignon and his wife, Eva, of Kileen, Texas and Lawrence Bolduc and his wife, Diane, of Torrington, Conn.; two sisters, Dr. Rosemary Taylor and her husband, Thomas, of Bradenton, Fla. and Sharon Phillips and her husband, Ray, of New Ellenton, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Michael Biker, Melissa and Laurier Giasson, Robert and Chad Brousseau, Crystal, Tabatha and Matthew Aube and Courtney Wilson; six great-grandchildren, Isaac, Lexus, Jacob, Alisa, Ethan, and Brenden; and many nieces and nephews.
