Democrats meet

FARMINGTON – Franklin County Democrats will meet at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at the University of Maine Campus in the North Dinning Room C.

Acupuncture

FARMINGTON – Sandy River Acupuncture will offer free Katrina-style acupuncture treatments at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, with donations accepted to go to Acupuncturists Without Borders, a group of volunteers acupuncturists who have traveled to New Orleans offering stress reducing treatments to those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Extension event

PARIS – The Oxford County Cooperation Extension Office has invited the public to visit the office and tour the gardens from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24.

Those attending will learn about how Oxford County master gardeners are making a difference in the battle against hunger with the Plant A Row for the Hungry garden.

They will see where the bouquets that have been placed around town are grown and will learn about the high tunnel research project.

Ed Garbrielsen will be on hand to answer questions on small-scale beekeeping.

Karen Toohey and Donna LaRose from Extension’s Eat Well program will prepare snacks using fresh fruits and vegetables. Anna Saar, Senior Companion program aide, will be available to explain the program and answer questions. The office is located of Route 26.
