HARTFORD – Voters on Thursday night approved a $220,000 loan to build a sand and salt shed and learned the interest will be 1 percent.
The town is applying to the Maine Municipal Bond Bank for a 20-year note. Planning consultant John Cleveland of Community Dynamics told selectmen the interest rate is 1 percent.
He said he will advertise for bids as soon as all the paperwork is in order.
Community Dynamics is assisting the town with the project.
Residents approved taking $12,615.76 from the Fund Balance to cover overspending the summer roads account, $3,579.61 for overspending the paving account and $5,115.50 to cover overspending in sanitation account.
Road Commissioner Cathy Lowe told the board at their regular meeting Thursday night that ditching and/or culvert work have been done on Swan Pond, Sam Annis, Carey Hill, Gurney Hill, Camp and Green Acres roads.
Selectmen scheduled a special meeting for 6 p.m. Aug. 28 to open bids for bridge work on Town Farm Road.
Jason Rowe’s resignation from the Waste Committee was accepted.
Selectman Lee Holman informed the board that Tim Campbell was leaving his job at the transfer station. The board will advertise for a replacement at $8 an hour. Applications must be in by Aug. 28.
