GREENWOOD – A Rhode Island man was injured Friday night when his ATV struck a utility pole beside Vernon Street, Maine State Police Trooper Kyle Tilsley said.

Timothy Belmont, 45, of Pawtucket was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway and then flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

A report on his injuries and condition was not available late Friday night, a nursing supervisor said.

Belmont was alone on the Polaris ATV when the accident occurred at 6:20 p.m.

Tilsley said Belmont was traveling on the shoulder of the road “and he apparently struck a utility pole, and I’m still working on the causation factor of the crash.”

Bethel Rescue ambulance took him to the Norway hospital.

Bethel police and Maine Warden Service officer Norman Lewis of Woodstock assisted Tilsley.
