LEWISTON – The playoff schedule has been established for the Lewiston Rec Men’s Softball League. Consolation tourneys (double-elimination) for the two leagues will be held today at the Randall Road complex. Winner of each tourney advances to the regular playoffs that start Monday, August 21. Top 3 clubs in each league received a bye and will begin playoff action Monday.

Following are opening games for the American League consolation tourney Saturday: 8 a.m., Delisle (6) vs Mockler (8), Randall-1; Gendron’s (7) vs Blue Goose (9), Randall-2; 9:15, Varsity Lettering (4) vs winner Delisle-Mockler, Randall-1; Fast Breaks (5) vs winner Gendron’s-Blue Goose, Randall-2. The tourney continues all day, with the championship game set for Randall-3 at 3:30.

National League consolation tourney: 8 a.m., King Cobra (8) vs Health Club (5), Randall-3; 9:15, Le National (7) vs Ducharme (6), Randall-3; 10:30, Carlton Club (4) vs winner King Cobra-Health Club, Randall-3. Championship game is set for 3:30 at Randall-1.

American League regular playoffs (best-of-3) start next week, with all games at 6:00, as follows: Monday, Poland Spring vs Consolation Winner, Randall-1; Tuesday, Ducharme Masonry vs Allaire Construction, Randall-1; Consolation Winner vs Poland Spring, Upper Franklin; Wednesday, Ducharme vs Allaire, Upper Franklin; “If” game for Poland Spring-Consolation, R-2; Thursday, “If” game for Ducharme-Allaire.

National League playoffs (best of 3) start next week, as follows: Monday, Gipper’s vs Consolation Winner, R-3; Import Auto vs BT Pallet, Upper Franklin; Tuesday, Gipper’s vs Consolation Winner, R-3; Wednesday, Import Auto vs BT Pallet, R-1; “If” game Gipper’s-Consolation (site to be determined); Thursday, “If” game Import-Pallet, R-1.

Gipper’s-White Rock ended the season with a 16-2 record. Jesse Robitaille crushed 2 homers and Chip Doughty cracked 3 hits as Gipper’s trimmed Carlton Club 12-9. Lawler clouted a homer for Carlton. Stevens and Pelkey ripped 3 hits each. . . Gipper’s edged Carlton 5-4 as Jeff Danse gained the mound win and chipped in with a double. Richards socked 2 doubles for Carlton. . . Gipper’s ended the season with an 18-8 win over King Cobras. Robitaille, Mike Gazza and Danse all smacked long bombs. Danse went 4-4. Randy Dubay was the winning pitcher. R. Bisson, Don Bowen and Ted Case were the top sticks for Cobras.
