MECHANIC FALLS – Police are investigating the theft of drugs from the Mechanic Falls Pharmacy during a late-night break-in Wednesday.
The robbery occurred between 10 p.m. and midnight at the Pleasant Street business owned by Chuck Primozich of Norway, Mechanic Falls police Sgt. Paul Harrison said Friday night.
The full-length glass side entrance door was smashed to gain entry, he said.
“At this point, we’re not absolutely positive how it was broken,” he added.
A person walking by the pharmacy and gift store reported the break-in to a clerk at Cumberland Farms across the street, and the clerk called police, the investigator said.
“We do have some leads that we are checking into,” Sgt. Harrison said.
“There were some drugs that were stolen,” he said, but he declined to disclose the types or amounts due to the ongoing investigation.
“He had an alarm system,” Harrison said, but it did not activate. It was not known if the store had security cameras.
Primozich declined comment Friday night.
