NORWAY – Gertrude A. Hammond, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 20, at her residence on Tamarack Drive.

She was born in Albany, Dec. 15, 1919, a daughter of Fred J. and Flora (Stearns) McKeen. She had worked in the kitchen of SAD 17 in South Paris for more than 21 years, and retired in 1987.

She was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans in East Stoneham, member of the Giddion International Auxiliary and a member of the South Paris Baptist Church.

She was married in East Stoneham, on June 21, 1952, to Harland E. Hammond, who died in West Paris, Oct. 24, 1991.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jones of Norway and Patricia Parent and husband, Peter, of Plainville, Mass.; grandsons, Aaron Parent of Plainville, Mass. and Matthew Jones of Philadelphia, Pa.; a niece, Sandra Brown of Oxford; grandnieces; and a grandnephew.
