Dear Sun Spots: Whatever became of Ronnie Gordon? Ronnie was born Rodney G. Shank on June 16, 1947, and was the foster child of Carroll and Laruth Gordon of Livermore from the time he was 18 months old until he joined the Marine Corps in 1966. My name is Carol Gordon, Ronnie’s niece.

All through school Ronnie went by the name Ronnie Gordon, although he was never legally adopted (just in our hearts) and his name never legally changed. No one knew him as Rodney Shank. Ronnie was killed in a helicopter crash on Feb. 7, 1969, in Quang Nam, South Vietnam, while proudly serving his country. His name appears on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall as Rodney Shank (www.thewall-usa.com). Ronnie is laid to rest at the Lakeside Cemetery in Livermore. The name on the gravestone is Rodney Shank.

I write this because many of Ronnie’s friends and classmates have gone to the wall and graveside looking for him. I would also like to start a collection of stories and pictures that his friends would be willing to share with me. Please e-mail me at cgordo@megalink.net or write to me at 97 Perry Road, Turner, ME 04282, or give me a call at 224-7094. Thank you to all, and thank you Sun Spots for providing me an avenue to do this. – Carol Gordon, Turner.

Dear Sun Spots: You help the people of Lewiston-Auburn area so much. Thank you from all of us. Please tell me when the next clinic for shots for dogs and cats in the area around Lewiston and Auburn takes place. Thanks so much. – No Name, Lewiston.

Answer:
Contact Pet Quarters, 600 Center St., Auburn, 786-7255 who hold a monthly rabies clinic for cats and dogs from 1 to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month. The cost is $11 per pet. Please note they will not be holding a clinic in September because of a staff shortage. Sun Spots would recommend you contact them close to the clinic date to confirm they’ll be holding it.

Dear Sun Spots: I am turning to Sun Spots for information that I can’t seem to find elsewhere. Hopefully, Sun Spots or its readers will be able to help.

I am looking for someone in the Lewiston/Auburn area who could personalize two small keepsake pillows for me. It could be done either by stitching or by handwriting in permanent ink.

Also, is it possible to refinish or resurface a fiberglass bathtub that is discolored and a little scuffed up? If it is, would Sun Spots know of someone locally in the Lewiston/Auburn area who provides this service?

Thanks in advance for the great column and the help. – D.M., Lewiston.

Answer:
In addition to responses from readers, you might consider the Vermont Country Store’s tub and tile cleaner that sells for $11.95 for a 32-ounce bottle. You can reach them online at www.vermontcountrystore.com, by phone at 802-362-8460, e-mail at customerservice@vermontcountrystore.com or mail at The Vermont Country Store, 5650 Main St., P.O. Box 1108, Manchester Center, VT 05255-1108.

You might also contact Jason at Classic Bathtubs at 753-1212 or John Nutter at Bathtub Revivers 774-8184. It’s possible this is also a project you might be able to do yourself, and you could always check in with your local hardware store to see if it stocks any products that might do this.
