Turner creature!?

Let me tell you this. As animal control officer for the town of Turner from 1990 through 1998, I responded to hundreds of calls in Turner, Leeds, Greene, North Turner and Buckfield. I also worked for the Department of Agriculture as an ADCC agent; working closely with the Maine Warden Service on wild animal calls.

I never once got a call or complaint about a mysterious animal or creature that was attacking dogs, cats or other animals.

I have lived in Turner for 31 years, and this is the first time I have ever heard anything about any “creature.” As animal control officer and state ADCC agent, I surely would have been one of the first to be called.

Also, both animal clinics in Turner have never been advised of any domesticated animals or pets being attacked by a suspicious and unidentifiable creature.

Let’s put all this hype to rest.

The rapid decomposition of an animal in the heat of summer does things to a carcass so fast that it is hard to tell what type of animal it is. It seems to have made a lot of people curious and even hopeful that is was, indeed, a creature.

Let’s all get on with things, and maybe the next big story will be even better.
