1928 – 2006

AUBURN – Hartley D. Moore Sr., 77, a longtime resident of Boothby Road in Livermore, died Thursday, Aug. 24, at Androscoggin Hospice House after a very short illness.

He was born on Oct. 5, 1928, in Livermore, the son of William D. and Susan (Whitten) Moore. He attended schools in Livermore and Leavitt.

On Nov. 26, 1949, he married Annie Hodge in South Livermore. He worked as a farmer, woodsman and truck driver for many years. He was very happy working on his farm and was never one to venture far from home. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and his cat “the animal,” but his pride and joy was his Case tractor.

He is survived by his wife, Annie of Canton; a son, Hartley Moore Jr. of Kentucky; a daughter, Susan Losey and her husband, Jim, of Livermore; two sisters, Helen Nichols of Livermore Falls and Mary Fish of North Turner; sister-in-law, Louise Moore of Livermore; brother-in-law, Vinton Hutchins of North Turner; three grandchildren, Jamey, James and Justin Chaousis; five great-grandchildren, Tabitha Dunton, Luke, Alaura, Caitlin and Jarrett Chaousis; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Jarrett Chaousis; two sisters, Jean Hutchins and Lillian Ruby; and a brother, Everett Moore.
