EAST BROOKFIELD, Mass. (AP) – An 89-year-old man has been ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device to ensure he stays at home for 60 days after pleading guilty to killing a motorcyclist.

Fred Hedberg, of Worcester, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide Wednesday in Western Worcester District Court.

Authorities say Hedberg was driving his station wagon west on Route 9 on Sept. 15 when he turned into the path of an eastbound motorcycle driven by Andrew Smith, 42, of Holland. Smith was thrown from the bike and into the side of a passing car carrier, killing him.

In addition to wearing the monitoring device, Hedberg was ordered to never obtain a Massachusetts drivers license.
