LEWISTON – Geiger intends to acquire Florida-based Forrester-Smith Inc., a 43-year-old promotional products company with five regional offices covering 28 states.

The announcement was recently made by Wing Hughes, president of Forrester-Smith, and Jo-an Lantz, executive vice president of the Promotional Products Group for Geiger.

“The strength and stability of Forrester-Smith can only be enhanced by joining Geiger, a well-respected and innovative company in the promotional products industry,” said Hughes during the announcement. “Forrester-Smith has been on a growth track. Becoming part of Geiger will only help to springboard sales growth for the future.”

Forrester-Smith is based in Tampa and operates with 130 independent sales associates and 27 support people.

Geiger President Gene Geiger described Forrester-Smith as “the leading distributor in the Southeast and Atlantic seaboard, with an extensive footprint in the Midwest and West.” He said he looked forward to working with Hughes.

Hughes will remain as president of Forrester-Smith, a new division of Geiger, and be appointed to the Geiger Bros. Board of Directors.

Forrester-Smith Inc. was founded in 1963. Hughes purchased the company in January 1986 when there were 18 sales associates and three support people.

Headquartered in Lewiston, Geiger is the largest privately held promotional products distributor in the nation. Recently named the eighth largest promotional products distributor in the nation, Geiger operates 15 divisional offices across the United States and is affiliated with more than 400 independent sales representatives.
