AUBURN – Beech Hill Road will be closed to through traffic today while Auburn Public Works replaces a culvert that caved in over the weekend.
Traffic entering Beech Hill Road from Hotel Road will be allowed to travel as far as Jennifer Drive. From there, traffic will be diverted.
Commuters are being asked to seek alternate routes.
According to Dick Keene, traffic supervisor at Auburn Public Works, the cause of the cave-in is the age of the culvert. Keene wasn’t sure of the exact age of the culvert, but said, “It’s definitely older than I am.”
Keene said that Beech Hill Road should re-open to traffic Monday evening, after the culvert is replaced.
