I saw your editorial cartoon, with a book saying “Economics 101,” regular price, $19.99, and student price, $199.99.
This price should be “plus tax.” It has been that way for quite a while.
You can buy newspapers, tabloids, porn magazines, etc., and pay no tax. But, educational textbooks you pay tax on?
You would think that government would charge sales tax to tax tabloids and, especially, porn magazines. This tells you how government wants people to be educated.
Some college course textbooks can cost between $200 and $500; that is $10 to $25 per course in sales tax that our students could use to help with other educational expenses.
