Cancer forum

PORTLAND – The Southern Maine Prostate Cancer Support Group and Maine Medical Center’s Oncology Program will offer a free prostate cancer education forum from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the Maine Medical Center Charles A. Dana Center Auditorium.

Prostate cancer survivors, including newly diagnosed, pre- or post-treatment, long-term survivors and their loved ones are invited to attend an evening of information, resources, support and informal networking.

In Maine, it is estimated that 1,460 men will be newly diagnosed with prostate cancer, and 170 men will die from the disease in 2006.

Adoption meeting

FALMOUTH – Maine Adoption Placement Service will hold an adoption informational session about domestic and international programs at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Falmouth Public Library. Preregister by calling 775-4101.
