FALMOUTH – Deborah Day Miller died unexpectedly Thursday morning in her home in Falmouth.
She was the daughter of Frances and Herbert Miller and lived most of her life in the Lewiston area.
After graduating from Boston College, she returned to Maine and started at the Mill Fabric Store in Lisbon. She met her first husband, Charlie Saben, and married in 1975.
She and Charlie Saben ran the fabric store in Lisbon and expanded their business in the Portland market. They had two children, David and Leah Saben.
When her children were grown, she moved to Boston and attended cooking school. After, the death of her mother last year, she decided to return to Maine and live in Falmouth.
She will be remembered as the beloved mother, an accomplished business owner, and a multi- talented designer. She worked mostly with textiles, but loved cooking and home decorating.
She was a remarkable, stylish dresser and loved to travel all over the world. She had a keen eye for colors and trends. She was an invaluable shoe designer in the footwear industry.
She is survived by her children, David and Leah Saben; her grandson, Andre Eady; her father, Herbert Miller; and aunt Phyllis Shapiro; her ex-husband Charlie Saben and many family members and friends.
She will be greatly missed and dearly loved forever.
