PARIS – The Oxford County Communications Advisory Board, which has been known as the Oxford County Communications Committee, met on Aug. 10 at the Oxford County Regional Communications Center.

The committee is made up of 13 individuals throughout Oxford County who represent fire services, emergency medical services, law enforcement, county emergency management agency,county commissioners and county director of communications.

The purpose of the advisory board is twofold. First, it oversees and police the hundreds of users of the county’s radio frequencies, which includes fire, rescue and police. Basically, the board can receive complaints of misuse and act on the complaints, help set policy and make recommendations to the director.

Secondly, the board helps the communications director with long-range plans, grants, policy and budgets throughout the year.

The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Oxford County Regional Communications Center. It will be a budget work session for the communications center.
