Farmers’ market

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Farmers’ Market will include outreach from Sisters of Charity Health Systems regarding prevention and wellness from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, in Kennedy Park, corner of Bates and Pine streets. There will also be a stress reduction and relaxation booth.

The market includes locally-grown produce, baked goods, cooking demonstrations, free recipes and food samples, and booths with information on health and wellness.

Movie night

WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, OES, will present “Movie Night,” starring the International Temple, which will follow the 7:30 p.m. meeting Tuesday, Sept. 12. There will be all the fixing when the movie is screened: drinks, popcorn, candy and a drawing for prizes.

Donations of $1 will benefit the International Temple Restoration Fund.

Members and visiting members are invited.

On Saturday, Sept. 23, chapter members will join Webster Lodge for a chicken barbecue from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is invited.

Fellowship lunch

LISBON – The Lisbon Area Merry Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, Sept. 11, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. Fellowship at 11:30 a.m. will be followed at noon with a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.

Hummel club

LEWISTON – Nor’Easter Maine Chapter, M.I. Hummel Collector’s Club, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. Anyone interested in Hummels is welcome as are new members. Society speakers

LISBON – The Lisbon Historical Society will have as guest speakers members of the Lisbon Police Department on Wednesday, Sept. 13. They will present a program about drug awareness.

The meeting will be held at the Lisbon Historical Society Archive Museum, MTM Center, 18 School St., rooms 5 and 6; use rear entrance. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. The public is welcome; admission is free.

Donor hours

LEWISTON – The Red Cross Blood Donor Center at Central Maine Medical Center has adjusted its hours of operation. The center is now open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 6:30 p.m.

Appointments for pheresis platelet donations are being accepted for those hours. Call 1-800-272-2114 to schedule an appointment.

The donor center also accepts appointments and walk-ins for whole blood donations during those hours.

Walk-ins are accommodated around scheduled appointments.

Call 1-800-GIVELIFE or contact the donor center at 795-2260 to schedule a whole blood donation.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 29 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; second, Jim Flanagan and William Adams; third, Luke Merry and Nancy Lindgren; tied at fourth, Richard Balian and Marta Clements with Jeanine Kivus and Martine Begert.

Flight B winners were: first, Jim Flanagan and William Adams; second, Richard Balian and Marta Clements. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Multi-Purpose Center.

The club also met on Aug. 30 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Larry Fortier and Anna Vitiello; second, Ann Johnson and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Paul Barber and Luke Merry; tied at fourth, Carolyn Robertson and Lucille Theriault with David Lock and Richard Balian. Flight B winners were Doug and Betty Sise.

Another game will be played at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Schooner Estates.
