FRYEBURG – The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office TRIAD Program (crime prevention for senior citizens) recently held its eighth annual Senior Appreciation Day Picnic at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds with 400 people attending. The day was filled with music, entertainment, food and information.

Sixteen area business and organizations that deal with issues concerning senior citizens manned booths offering information from transportation to health and nutrition.

The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Group demonstrated several squares and also invited public participation. Dot Canwell and friends provided musical entertainment. Blazing Star Masons provided popcorn.

Ricker Hamilton from the Department of Elder Services presented Sheriff Lloyd Herrick with a plaque from the Attorney General’s Office thanking him for all of his work and support for the TRIAD Program. Herrick will be retiring at the end of 2006.
