RUMFORD – Evelyn M. Jones, 72, of Dixfield, died early Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Rumford Hospital.

She was born June 13, 1934, in Mexico, a daughter of Vinal and Violet (McPherson) Noyes. She graduated from Dixfield High School and on May 30, 1965, married Howard “Gene” Jones Sr. in California. In addition to being a homemaker, she was a clothespin operator at Forster Mfg. Co. for many years.

She was an outdoorsperson who enjoyed brook fishing and berry picking. Known for her feisty, persevering personality, she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Howard Jones Jr. and his companion, Kelly Farrell, of Rumford; her daughter, Ann Jones of Peru; grandchildren, Howard Jones III, Seth Jones and Christie Woods, all of Dixfield; grandson, Richard James Masterson II of Rumford; brothers, Kenneth Noyes and his wife, Ann, of Madison, Carroll Noyes and his wife, Carol Ann, of Peru, Vinal Noyes Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Dixfield; one sister, Hazel Newcomb of Livermore; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband.
