SABATTUS – With a new owner and patio put into place at Mixers, the town has received nothing but rave reviews of the Sabattus bar’s new image.

At the selectmen’s meeting Tuesday night, Selectman Gino Camardese told new Mixers Inc. President Michael Yohe that the new 440-square-foot patio makes the entrance to the bar look “quieter and less congested.”

“I have heard nothing but good things,” Selectman Steve Wood said.

In the past, the bar has run into complaints of patrons driving drunk and being too noisy, and exceeding its legal capacity of occupants.

However, since Yohe has been at the helm, police Chief Thomas Fales said he has been pleased with the progress and “receives notice before things get out of hand.”

A factor that may play into Mixers favor is that the bar is attracting a different crowd.

“Our crowd has changed, and now we have people coming from all over,” Yohe said, also mentioning that the bar honors former President Randy Greenwood’s patron banned list that has more than 40 names.

“We’re doing it, little by little,” Yohe said. “It’s all about baby steps.

For the last five months, Yohe and Greenwood have been working on a plan to solve those problems while meeting the demands of its patrons.
