FARMINGTON – Rebecca Hebert, 82, a resident of Main Street, Jay, died late Friday evening, Sept. 8, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for a week following a brief illness.

She was born June 9, 1924, in Berlin, N.H., the daughter of Robert N. and Emelda (Bourassa) Hebert Sr. The Hebert family moved to Jay, which became their home, in 1936. Rebecca attended school in Rumford and Jay.

She worked at the Glove Shop, International Paper Co. and Norwalk Shoe, retiring in 1977.

Rebecca was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church.

She was very devoted to her family, helping to raise many children. Rebecca enjoyed feeding the birds, puzzles, picking blueberries with her sisters, doing carpentry and building Christmas mangers.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her four sisters, Aurore Provencher, Helen Buote, Lauretta Hebert and Gloria Fournier and her husband, John, all of Jay; her brother, Armand Hebert and his wife, Pauline, of Corinna; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Laurier and Robert “Gus” Hebert; two sisters, Mary Jane Pomerleau and Elizabeth L’Italian; and brothers-in-law, Adrien Provencher and Rudy Buote.
