Editor’s note: Every day there are rays of light that shine into the lives of people through their neighbors, their co-workers, their families and even through complete strangers. This column is devoted to exposing these sunbeams to the light and offering readers an opportunity to share good news. We plan to occasionally offer up our own sunbeams, too.
A true ‘angel’ in Auburn

You may have heard stories about people doing amazing rescues. I never thought it could happen to someone I love.

On Aug. 9, I received a chilling phone call – my husband had gone off the road with our son in the car. After rushing to the hospital with my heart in my throat, I was informed what happened.

My husband had had a seizure while driving across Center Street in Auburn. Someone saw he was in trouble, steered the car off the road and called 911. Hard to believe that no one was hurt – my family or anyone else.

After recovering from the draining experience, my husband tried to call one of the officers on the scene, only to find it was his day off. We then found the story of the incident in a newspaper, including our “angel’s” name.

To guess how many times I thanked God that that woman was there for my family would be impossible. Thanks don’t seem enough.

I know that one day we’ll meet her and be able to say “thank you” in person. Until then, she will forever be in our hearts.

Real ‘team’ effort in Farmington

The Western Mountains Alliance wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Eric Gilbert and the members of the Mt. Blue High School Football team who sacrificed a portion of a late August afternoon to help unload office equipment at our new location on Church Street in Farmington.

Following their morning practice session, the team descended on two truckloads full of cubicle panels and desks and unloaded in under 15 minutes what would have taken our staff half the day and three injured backs to accomplish. We cannot thank them enough!

We offer best wishes for a winning season and a successful school year to the team.

Thanks for scholarship support

On behalf of the parents of Craig Langervin and the staff at Dirigo High School, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Craig Langervin Football Fund. As you know, Craig, who died in a car accident in February, loved football.
