Welcome barbecue

FARMINGTON – Henderson Memorial Baptist Church will host a welcome barbecue for University of Maine at Farmington students from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, on the church lawn. Chicken on a skewer and grilled veggies, salads and desserts will be served. All UMF students are welcome. Henderson Memorial is an American Baptist Church located on the corner of Main and Academy streets.

Sunday message

FARMINGTON – Worship at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, with music and a message about living a “cross-shaped life.” Sunday school classes will start at 9 a.m. and preschoolers through elementary grades will focus on “Noah’s Ark.”

All adults, young and older, are invited to a video-discussion study on “Beginning Life in Christ” at the same time. All are welcome.

Race under way

LIVERMORE – After a brief pit stop the Great Race that began at the North Livermore Baptist Church Vacation Bible School had its restart at 10 a.m. Sept. 10, the first day of the Sunday school season.

It is not too late for any kindergarten to seventh-graders to get in the race. Teens and adults can attend Sunday school for all ages.

Retired teachers

RANGELEY – Franklin County Unit of Retired Teachers will meet at the Church of the Good Shepherd for lunch and a program by the Congregational Church Bell Ringers. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25. For reservations, call 778-3260.

DAR speaker

TEMPLE – State Rep. Janet Mills will speak on conservation at the Colonial Daughters Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, meeting at noon Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the home of Melanie Farmer.

Dues will be accepted at the meeting as will donations for veterans.

A potluck luncheon will be held. Guests are welcome.

UMF craft fair

FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington has announce its annual arts and crafts show, sponsored by the conference office, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in the Olsen Student Center.

Many new artists and crafters from Maine are expected to turn out. All items for sale are handmade/homemade by artists.Items will include stained glass, jewelry, pressed floral art, handpainted wood and jars, baskets, original paintings and prints of watercolors, photography, wreaths, handknitted items, porcelain dolls, metal decor, greeting cards, pottery, wind chimes, hand sewn crafts, handspun yarn, country crafts and wooden bowls.
