BANGOR – After 110 minutes of soccer the hard fought mens’ soccer game between Husson and Colby ended in a 1-1 tie Wednesday afternoon.

All the scoring took place in the first 22 minutes of the match. Colbys’ (0-0-2) Duy Lyford scored first on a goal in which Husson goalie Jon Couie saved, but bounced off a Husson defender into the net.

The Eagles (2-1-1) answered later in the half when Oscar Ody scored from the left side off a pass from Nattapong Kongsuriya tying the score 1-1.

Couie finished the game making 17 saves on the night. Colbys’ Josh Kahane made two saves.

Women’s soccer
Colby 4, UMF 0

WATERVILLE – Laura Williamson netted a pair of goals and Katie McCabe finished with three assists as Colby rolled past the University of Maine at Farmington 4-0 in collegiate women’s soccer action Wednesday.

Meggie Herlihy and Lauren Goethals also tallied for the Mules (1-0-1) to complete the scoring. Liza Benson and Rachel Freierman combined for two saves in net to record the shutout.

Alix Raymond and Kerry Kowalczyk split time in net for the Beavers (1-1), combining for nine saves on the day.

Field Hockey
Bowdoin 4, Husson 0

BANGOR – Lindsay McNamara had two goals and an assist as Bowdoin topped Husson 4-0 in a college field hockey match-up Wednesday.

McNamara scored her back-to-back goals in the first half of the contest. Gail Winning and Shavonne Lord each scored a goal a piece to secure the Bowdoin (3-0) win in the latter half of the match.

Kate Leonard needed to make only one save to preserve the win, while Kelly Bocchino stopped eight shots for the Husson (2-1) effort.
