FARMINGTON – Chris Lapointe scored off a cross from David Rowe in the 78th minute to break the tie and lift the University of Southern Maine to a 2-1 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington in men’s soccer action Thursday.

Greg Cox got things started with a goal in the 24th minute, giving the Huskies (4-2) a 1-0 lead.

Jeff Tatarczuk scored a tying goal for the Beavers (0-2-1) in the 28th minute.

Bates 4, Southern Maine 0

LEWISTON – Carolyn King tallied an unassisted goal for the game-winning score in the first half and added two assists as Bates blanked the University of Southern Maine 4-0.

Lindsey Ferguson netted two goals for the Bobcats (2-0), and Bates held a 24-6 margin of shots on goal in the game.

Abby Childs rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 56th minute.

Sarah Sprague continued her shutout streak with her second clean-slate in as many games for Bates (2-0). Allie Hill made 17 saves for USM (0-5).
