PORTLAND (AP) – Brian Barton knocked in two runs, including the game-winner, as the Akron Aeros beat the Portland Sea Dogs 6-4 Friday in the Eastern League Championship Series.
Ryan Goleski homered for the Aeros and Brandon Pinckney went 4 for 5 and scored twice.
Akron trails the Sea Dogs 2-1 in the best-of-five series.
Brandon Moss homered and tallied two RBIs for Portland.
After Portland grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Ivan Ochoas RBI single tied it in the second.
Pinckneys double was the key hit as Akron scored twice in the third and Goleskis homer made it 4-1 in the fifth.
RBI singles by Jacoby Ellsbury and Moss narrowed Portlands deficit to one in the bottom of the fifth and Brian Myrow doubled home the tying run in the seventh.
Bartons RBI double sparked two runs in the ninth.
Akron reliever Jim Ed Warden picked up the win, while Tony Sipp notched the save. Portland reliever Brett Evert took the loss.
Game 4 will be played today in Portland and Game 5, if necessary, is slated for Sunday.
