CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – State officials plan to conduct controlled burning of wildlife habitat on Seavey Island in the Isles of Shoals.
Fish and Game Department officials say the “prescribed burn” will get rid of nonnative and invasive plants that are taking over nesting habitat for a colony of terns living on the island.
Weather permitting, the burn will take place some time between Monday and Oct. 15.
The only human residents on the island are biologists who monitor the terns.
