FARMINGTON – Franklin County commissioners awarded contracts for snow removal and mental health and substance abuse services for the jail on Tuesday.

They also accepted bids for two Sheriff’s Department trucks, county Clerk Julie Magoon said Tuesday.

Only three bids were received for snow removal for the three areas up for new contracts, she said.

The snow removal contract for Langtown went to Absolut Service Inc. for a bid of $7,500 annually with a renewal option of up to four years, she said.

ELVining & Son received the snow removal contract for the county’s lots on Church and Anson streets and for the Sheriff’s Department and jail for a bid of $7,111 a year, which is also renewable, she added.

Jason Orr was awarded the contract for removing snow in Washington Plantation and Perkins Plantation with a bid of $49,500 a year, Magoon said.

A total of five used-vehicle bids were received, she said, with some people bidding on both vehicles.

The 1987 Army truck went to C & S Motors for a bid of $880, Magoon said, and the 1976 Dodge pickup truck went to Nathan Noles for a bid of $800.

Commissioners also accepted Evergreen Behavioral Services bid of $75,000 to provide mental health and substance abuse services at the jail.

Commissioners had received three bids for the services previously and asked jail officials to review them and come back with a recommendation.

Also bidding to provide the services at the jail were Community Corrections Alternatives that offered three levels of pricing: $93,380, $100,815 and $140,450; and Arch-Allied Resources Correctional Health bid of $205,920.

In other business, commissioners, Gary McGrane of Jay and Fred Hardy of New Sharon appointed Commissioner Meldon Gilmore of Freeman Township, who was not in attendance, to serve on the Western Maine Community Action Board.
