KENNEBUNKPORT (AP) – Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who was in the United States to address the U.N. General Assembly, arrived Wednesday for a visit with former President George H.W. Bush.

“It’s just a personal visit with the former president,” said Jim Appleby, a spokesman for Bush at his summer home at Walker’s Point.

Appleby said he had no information on the duration of Karzai’s visit.

Earlier Wednesday, Karzai told world leaders at the United Nations that military action is needed against terrorist sanctuaries beyond his country’s borders in order to curb violence inside Afghanistan.
