Wilton breakfast
WILTON – A Wilton Community Early Bird Breakfast will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the First Congregational Church, Main Street. The speaker will be Paul Tait from Magic Touch Store and Gallery in downtown Wilton.
A hot breakfast buffet will be served and all are welcome. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
Cemetery meeting
NEW VINEYARD – New Vineyard Historical Society will host the fall program of the Maine Old Cemetery Association on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Smith Hall. Registration will be held from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. followed by a welcome and introductions by association President Emily Quint.
Fred O. Smith will speak on New Vineyard history from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and from 10 to 11, Carolee Merrill and Elaine Wells of the New Vineyard Historical Society will present “Practical Advice for Hands-On Restoration.”
There will be an association business meeting prior to the luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. The menu includes corn chowder, crackers, pickles, sandwiches (tuna, ham salad and egg), gingerbread with whipped cream and beverages for $6.
Cemetery tours will be conducted at 1 p.m., and the historical society archives will be available to visit for those choosing not to walk the cemeteries or in case of heavy rain.
Duo to perform
CARTHAGE – A concert of Scottish ballads will be presented by singers Alison McMorland and Geordie McIntyre at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Skye Theater located off Winter Hill Road.
McMorland is a singer of stature throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. She is involved in collecting, publishing, broadcasting, theater and teaching. She is a teach of Scottish traditional music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
McIntyre is a Glaswegian of Highland and Irish decent. His lifetime involvement in song, ballad and poetry is reflected in his singing, collecting and song writing. He has performed at clubs and festivals throughout Britain, Ireland and the USA.
