TURNER – Autumn marks the time for the North Turner Presbyterian Church’s annual harvest supper.
This year’s menu will include turkey, roasted and smoked, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetables, pickles and pickled beets, along with the church women’s homemade breads and desserts.
Free will donations will be accepted at the door for the supper, which will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the GAR Hall, Route 219, North Turner.
The supper will also mark the kickoff of the church’s “Ark” project in conjunction with Heifer International. The church members have decided that the best outreach, beyond local efforts, is to adopt community like theirs. Therefore, funds will be raised for an agricultural community in South America.
The “Ark” project involves sending pairs of animals to a small impoverished community. It is an attempt to give them the start of their own herds and of their continuing supply of milk, wool, eggs and meat.
Anyone interested in more information can contact Anne Harrington at 224-2551, Jody or Ike Goodwin at 225-2020 or Punk and Laverna House at 224-7913.
In other church news, a long held North Turner tradition is being revived and there will be a Community Halloween Party from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28 and 29, at the GAR Hall, Route 219.
Downstairs there will be easy games with prizes for the little ones and there will be a Haunted House upstairs for the older children. There will be no charge, but free will donations will be accepted.
Members have also announced that the church has met all of the goals set by the Presbyterian Church and the church will not be closed. The church would like to start having Sunday school classes again, so any young families with children who might be interested are invited to visit at 9 a.m. any Sunday.
