AUBURN – Edward Little senior Darrin Hart was a little bummed Wednesday night.

Like dozens of other seniors, he was decorating high school halls working on the senior class competition.

As seniors transformed the hall to an “Alice in Wonderland” theme – decorating with all kinds of props, balloons and music – students planned to use a fog machine to give their display extra pizzazz.

But as the fog machine was turned in, it triggered the fire alarm. That brought a screaming firetruck and rescue unit.

The seniors were told they couldn’t use machine-generated fog.

“We’re disappointed,” Hart said. “And we lost time” in working on their exhibit. Seniors want to win this year’s competition, he added.

Other class themes are: “Pleasantville” by the junior class; “Molin Rouge” by the sophomore class; and Rydell High by the freshman class.

The overall theme of spirit week is the movies. “The office is Jailhouse Rock,” said Assistant Principal Leslie Morrill.

Spirit week continues today and Friday, and concludes Saturday with a homecoming .
