Turkey supper

OXFORD – A turkey supper with all the fixings will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Oxford Grange, Route 26. Cost for adults is $7 and $3.50 for children under 12.

Society speaker

WEST PARIS – The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Heritage Center. Following a brief business meeting, Judith “Warm Tears” Hayes will present a program on Indian culture. A coffee social will follow.

Christian women

PARIS – The Christian Women United will meet at the First Congregational Church on Tuesday, Oct. 17. A luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. Ken Fernald of Portsmouth, N.H., will speak and provide music. WEST PARIS – A harvest supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at West Paris Grange Hall. Cost for adults is $7 and $3 for children under 12.

Free class

PARIS – Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community will offer a free class, “Moving Through Fear,” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Oct. 23 through Nov. 13, at the Western Maine University and Community College. For more information, call 743-9322, ext. 301, or 800-442-2092.

Tables available

BUCKFIELD – A holiday craft fair extravaganza will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Buckfield Junior/Senior High School, 160 Morrill St. Cost is $10 for an 8-by-10 foot space and the crafters must provide their own tables. To reserve a space, call Meghan Andrews-Wright by Friday, Nov. 24, with name, address, telephone number, number of spaces and special requests.

There will be musical performances by the students; performance by Bela Voce, women’s a capella group; kids’ bingo; special appearance by Santa Claus; and a variety of crafters. It is sponsored by the Nezinscot Valley Music Boosters.

Worship leader

PARIS – Silver Moore-Leamon will be the worship leader at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., Paris, Sunday, Oct. 15. Her sermon topic at the 10 a.m. service will be “Bible Study with Job and Mark.”

The music will be by the choir with Adriana Twitchell as soloist and Forest Perkins, church organist. The Sunday school will be in session led by Renee Wales. Child care is provided. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. The choir rehearses each Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Society to elect

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Historical Society will meet Monday, Oct. 17, at the museum. There will be a 6 p.m. potluck supper and a business meeting at 7 p.m. with election of officers and planning a hunters’ breakfast. Speaker will be Sayward Lamb, who will introduce his new book, “Deer Tails and Other Tales.”

The society will take part in the library’s 80th anniversary, with the museum opening at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14. For more information, call Ted or Betty Jones at 674-2507 or 890-3802.

Astronomy class

BRIDGTON – A beginner’s guide to astronomy will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 16, 23 and 30, in the basement of the Bridgton Town Office. To register in advance, call Bridgton Astronomy Club President Phil Braica at 647-3086. Same-day registration is permitted.

There will be a Halloween Senior Social from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the Bridgton Community Center. Costumes are optional. The meal will be a potluck. Mike Mahoney, disc jockey, will play music of the 1940s and 1950s.There will be door prizes.
