Audubon talk
FARMINGTON – An Audubon program on “Conservation of the Canada Warbler and Other Migratory Songbirds in the Northern Forest” will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Room C-23, Roberts Learning Center, University of Maine at Farmington.
Dr. Jim Chace, an avian ecologist, will speak about the ways in which landscape influences Canada Warbler and other songbird populations. He is the founder and director of the Center for Northern Forest Research.
Populations of forest songbirds are declining. Because Canada Warblers have steadily declined for the past 40 years, the ground-nesting species has been identified as one of the Northwest region’s highest priorities for research and conservation.
The program, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Western Maine Audubon Society.
