Karen Baldacci extols creativity at opening of Hand III exhibit
LEWISTON – Maine First Lady Karen Baldacci spoke about the important role a creative workforce plays in a growing economy during the opening ceremony of the Inspired Hand III exhibition in the Atrium Gallery at USM/Lewiston-Auburn.
Elizabeth “Betsy” Sholl, Maine’s poet laureate, recited a poem she wrote for the occasion.
The Inspired Hand III is a juried exhibition of work in all media by members of the Maine Crafts Association. It includes a large number of artists who are professional craftspeople.
The exhibition highlights work by 39 artists in clay, fiber, wood, metal, glass and paper and includes furniture, jewelry, textiles, pottery and sculptural work. It will be on display through Oct. 21.
